IN THE MAILBOX
The book is about how to find friends in any country of the world using postcards
For almost 20 years, more than 800 thousand people from 200 countries have participated in the project. Postcrossing is not just a hobby. This is an opportunity to find friends in different parts of the world, to find out how other people live. You can get to know the art, history and geography of countries through pictures and photographs, as well as through the stories of their senders. Postcrossing allows you to see the world more broadly, a world without borders and hostility. Just one postcard can make a happier person who finds a paper greeting in his mailbox!
This is an international postcard exchange project between random people.

I sent my first postcard almost 10 years ago. Since then, I have more than 200 postcards in my collection. I have been communicating with some of my senders by letters for a long time, and a friend from France even flew to visit me in Moscow.
I am madly in love with all the postal aesthetics, mood and freedom! That's exactly what I wanted to write a book about.

I have chosen the most unusual postcards, stories and characters to tell about them on the pages of the book!
Some of the illustrations are stamps, postcards, and even the handwriting of those with whom I once communicated.

WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT?
Meet Nune,
Nune is 11 years old and she lives in a small village in Yamal. Her parents are engaged in reindeer husbandry and are rarely at home, and Nuna goes to school in the village with other children. Sometimes she misses her parents and dreams of seeing different cities and countries.
But despite this, Nune does not feel lonely, she has many friends: a student from Finland, a farmer from Uganda and an aunt from England. Noone knows how to make a signature Thai pie, and she's tried Norwegian tea! That's because Nune does postcrossing!

WHY DO WE NEED POSTCROSSING?
To learn about how people live in other countries
Postcrossing is, first of all, an opportunity to learn new and interesting things about the world around us, about places where we have never been. Through the stories of local residents.
To practice the language
Most of the postcrossing participants communicate in English, so this is an opportunity to communicate and practice the language.
A hobby that can be touched
The opportunity to get out of the online world and get away from gadgets.
To be happy and surprised
You never know whose address you will get and who will get yours. It's always a surprise and an anticipation!
WHAT ELSE WILL BE IN THE BOOK?
Diary entries
Nune keeps a diary to share her experiences or emotions. Through her stories, we see how people live in Yamal and what their way of life is.
Real stories
Most of the stories are based on real postcards that the author of the book received. Therefore, some of the plots and illustrations are not made up.
Unusual facts
Nune's stories are complemented by rare and interesting historical facts, as well as inspiring stories related to letters.
